Basketball Recap: Jackson North Side Beats Munford for Their Fourth Straight Victory

After losing to Munford the last time they met, Jackson North Side decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Jackson North Side Indians came out on top against the Munford Cougars by a score of 97-87 on Saturday. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Cougars are ranked 156th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jackson North Side was led to victory by Lincoln Woods and Javonte Smith. Woods went 8 for 16 on his way to 28 points and five assists, while Smith went 7 of 11 on his way to 25 points in addition to six boards and three blocks. Those six boards gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Desmond Manley, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Jackson North Side was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Munford lost, don't look at JaDyn Lee. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 42 points and 12 boards. Lee's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elisha Patrick, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 19 points and six boards.

The win (which was Jackson North Side's fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-1. As for Munford, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.

When Jackson North Side and Munford next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Jackson North Side will try to stop Peabody's 13-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on January 7th. Jackson North Side is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.7 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Munford will try to stop Brighton's three-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
