The Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds will square off against the Manawa Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Iola-Scandinavia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Bonduel hit Iola-Scandinavia with a six-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Thunderbirds lost 12-5 to the Bears. The Thunderbirds haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Brooklyn Berrens was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Braelyn Jueds, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Manawa put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Tigerton. The Wolves were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Tigers. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wolves as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Olivia Zielke was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Manawa got a massive performance out of Alayna Seeger, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, two RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave Seeger a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Ferg, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Manawa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Iola-Scandinavia's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Manawa, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Iola-Scandinavia has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Manawa struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Iola-Scandinavia was able to grind out a solid victory over Manawa when the teams last played back in April of 2025, winning 10-7. Will the Thunderbirds repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
