The Auburn Maroons took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against Rome Free Academy by a score of 52-39. For Auburn, this counts as revenge for the 50-43 loss Rome Free Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2020.
Several Black Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amiyah Ferebee, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nijae Matthews, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds.
Auburn's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Rome Free Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Auburn will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Corning-Painted Post at 7:15 p.m. on December 18th. As for Rome Free Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Bishop Ludden at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
