Pinecrest Academy Cadence extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-5. They came up short against the Doral Academy Red Rock Dragons, falling 18-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 last Thursday.
Pinecrest Academy Cadence saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braxton Schiess, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
As for Doral Academy Red Rock, their record is now 4-2. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
On Doral Academy Red Rock's side, Elijah Badua was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Badua a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Doral Academy Red Rock let Chance Schaefer and Harvey Swann run wild. Schaefer went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Swann went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Doral Academy Red Rock is undefeated when Swann posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Jayden Mateo also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Coming up, Pinecrest Academy Cadence will welcome Camp Verde at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. As for Doral Academy Red Rock, they will take on Parker in a tournament on Friday. The Broncs' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Dragons' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
