They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Hoover 95-65 on the road. The victory was familiar territory for Mater Dei who now have four in a row.
Mater Dei's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Verna, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. The match was Verna's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brandon Benjamin, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Hoover's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Exavier Williams, who scored 18 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Amanuel Tesfahunegn, who scored 22 points.
Mater Dei's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Hoover, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
Mater Dei will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Beaumont at 6:30 p.m. on December 28th. Beaumont knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Mater Dei likes a good challenge.
