The Ayden - Grifton Chargers will square off against the Farmville Central Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ayden - Grifton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Farmville Central will be up against a hot Ayden - Grifton team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Ayden - Grifton came out on top against West Craven by a score of 7-3 on Friday.
Brysen Williams made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Camden Wilson, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Connor Loftin was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Farmville Central faced off against SouthWest Edgecombe on Friday. Farmville Central came up short against SouthWest Edgecombe, falling 16-3. Jaguars fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Cougars since on Friday.
Farmville Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reed Kennedy, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Kennedy has posted since back in March of 2024.
Ayden - Grifton's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Farmville Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Ayden - Grifton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Farmville Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
