Homewood is 9-1 against Briarwood Christian since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Patriots will venture away from home to take on the Lions at 4:30 p.m. Homewood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Homewood was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Jackson-Olin on Tuesday. The Patriots put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 24-0 victory. The Patriots' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Anne Hope Howell made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Howell was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Talley Hatcher looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single hit any time she's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Homewood got a massive performance out of Lucy Robinett, who scored four runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave Robinett a new career-high. Madison Letson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
Homewood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .824. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Briarwood Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain Brook.
Briarwood Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Scout Staggs, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Staggs also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.
Homewood's record now sits at 13-8-1. As for Briarwood Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7-1.
Homewood beat Briarwood Christian 7-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
