The Dalhart Wolves are taking a road trip to face off against the Childress Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Dalhart is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.
Dalhart barely beat River Road the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolves blew past the Wildcats 8-2 on Friday.
Dalhart's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kevin Rios, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Another was Talon Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Childress gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against River Road as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bobcats.
Drake Rabe and Logan Oldham did most of the damage at the plate: Rabe went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Oldham went 1-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Rabe a new career-high. Cooper Sides also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Childress always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River Road only posted an OBP of .348.
Dalhart's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Childress, their record now sits at 12-10-1.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Dalhart has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. However, it's not like Childress struggles in that department as they've averaged .477. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dalhart came out on top in a nail-biter against Childress when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 14-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
