The Granby Memorial Bears will take on the Canton Warriors at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Granby Memorial will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, Granby Memorial was able to grind out a solid win over Bolton, taking the game 8-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canton). They put the hurt on East Windsor with a sharp 14-2 victory on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.
Oden Berg made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Canton: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-11 otherwise.
In other batting news, James Canny was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Canton's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 5-11 when he doesn't). Ethan Lindquist was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Canton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Windsor only posted an OBP of .261.
Granby Memorial's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Canton, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.
Granby Memorial came up short against Canton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 7-2. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
