The Blazer Tomcats are taking a road trip to take on the Huntington Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Blazer knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Huntington likes a good challenge.
On Monday, Blazer got the win against Lewis County by a conclusive 16-1. Fans of the Tomcats have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
The team relied heavily on Zane Ingram, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brady Marushi, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Blazer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Huntington started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Spring Valley. They fell just short of the Timberwolves by a score of 6-5 on Monday.
Huntington also got a good showing from Evan Childers, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Cooper Mayo made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Jacob Ramey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Huntington now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Blazer, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Blazer came out on top in a nail-biter against Huntington in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tomcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
