Stigler made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Sallisaw, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Panthers put the hurt on the Black Diamonds with a sharp 8-2 victory on Tuesday. Evan Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Grady Kettles and Blake Goff did most of the damage at the plate: Kettles scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Goff scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. What's more, Kettles posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Tj Kettles was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Stigler's win bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Sallisaw, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 16-3.
Coming up, Stigler is taking a road trip to take on Panama at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sallisaw, they will square off against Hilldale at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
