The Joliet West Tigers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Plainfield East 83-51 at home. The victory was some much needed relief for Joliet West as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Joliet West to victory, but perhaps none more so than Makayla Chism, who scored 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chism has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Maziah Shelton, who scored 24 points.
Despite the loss, Plainfield East still got an impressive performance from Lexi Sepulveda, who scored 31 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 60.8% of Plainfield East's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Emma Rodgers was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Joliet West's win bumped their record up to 14-12. As for Plainfield East, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 19 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season.
Joliet West will challenge Plainfield Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Plainfield Central is coming into the matchup with nine straight losses at home, meaning Joliet West will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. Plainfield East will take on Romeoville at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Romeoville will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Plainfield East surely won't give up without a fight.
