Baseball Recap: Castlewood Takes a Loss

If Castlewood was feeling good fresh off their 15-5 takedown of Twin Springs on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Blue Devils lost 11-3 to the Eastside Spartans on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost seven in a row.

Castlewood saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dalten Keith, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run. Ayden Skeens also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Castlewood's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-6. As for Eastside, they pushed their record up to 3-3 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Castlewood will be playing at home against Rye Cove at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Eastside, they are taking a road trip to square off against Auburn at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight.
