Shenandoah has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the North Decatur Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Shenandoah focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Thursday.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 11 more assists than your opponent, a fact Shenandoah proved. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Daleville 50-23 at home.
Shenandoah's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grace Lee led the charge by scoring ten points along with eight steals. Lee hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Kim Farmer was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, North Decatur earned a 45-36 win over Columbus East on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back wins for North Decatur.
North Decatur's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Kunz, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. The contest was Kunz's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Madi Allen, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds.
Shenandoah's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-6. As for North Decatur, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Wednesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Shenandoah have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 32.4% of their threes per game. It's a different story for North Decatur, though, as they've only made 36.3% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Shenandoah came up short against North Decatur in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 52-41. Can Shenandoah avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
