Football Recap: Culver City Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Harley Moore and Nicholas Hoang + How To Watch

After flying high against Lawndale last Friday, Culver City came back down to earth. The Centaurs took a 47-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Inglewood Sentinels on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Centaurs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Sentinels are ranked 98th).

Nicholas Hoang and Harley Moore certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hoang threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns, while Moore picked up 94 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Hoang is becoming a predictor of Culver City's success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't).

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Culver City, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Shelton Bryant, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Inglewood was led to victory by Andre Nickerson and Lincoln Jahn. Nickerson gained 106 total yards, while Jahn threw for 334 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes. What's more, Nickerson posted two receiving touchdowns, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Masyn Harvey was another key player, picking up 83 receiving yards and one score.

Culver City has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Inglewood, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season.

Culver City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Inglewood, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 40-16 victory against Capistrano Valley on the 7th.
