The Village Christian Academy Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Goldsboro Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Village Christian Academy has three straight victories, Goldsboro has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Village Christian Academy barely beat The O'Neal School the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Village Christian Academy put the hurt on The O'Neal School with a sharp 13-2 win on Tuesday. That looming 13-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Knights yet this season.

The team relied heavily on Eli Guinn, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Gooch, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
Guinn wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Village Christian Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Goldsboro came up short against Village Christian Academy on Friday and fell 9-4.
Goldsboro saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bladen Jones, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, Jones posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Leland Apriceno also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Goldsboro's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Village Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Goldsboro's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Village Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Goldsboro, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Village Christian Academy keep running through batters, or will Goldsboro buck the trend?
Village Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Goldsboro in their previous matchup on Friday, winning 9-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Village Christian Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
