The Tolono Unity Rockets had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 51.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past Monticello 47-23. The result was nothing new for Tolono Unity, who have now won six matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Tolono Unity's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Garrett Richardson, who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown. Tolono Unity also got help from Aiden Porter who showed off his sure hands for 86 receiving yards.
Despite the loss, Monticello still got an impressive performance from Trey Welter, who picked up 137 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Teschke, who threw for 250 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.9% of his passes.
Tolono Unity's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Monticello, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tolono Unity will take on Williamsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Williamsville will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Monticello, they will head out on the road to face off against DuQuoin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. DuQuoin will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
