The Ross Little Giants had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They walked away with a 39-27 win over Whitmer. This was payback for Ross, who suffered a 49-46 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mackenzie Royal-davis, who scored six points along with eight rebounds. Royal-davis is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played.
Ross' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. As for Whitmer, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Ross will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Southview at 7:15 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Whitmer will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Highland at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
