The Castle Knights will head out to square off against the Heritage Hills Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Castle will be strutting in after a win while Heritage Hills will be coming in after a loss.
Castle gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 12-8 victory over Vincennes Lincoln. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Alices recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Bailey Gravens made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Gravens was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Aubrey Baker was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Lily Greenwell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Heritage Hills' offense. They lost 10-0 to Daviess County on Saturday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Patriots, who until this game were averaging 4.05 runs allowed.
Heritage Hills saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Lubbehusen, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Castle's record is now 9-11. As for Heritage Hills, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Castle hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. However, it's not like Heritage Hills struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Castle was able to grind out a solid victory over Heritage Hills in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
