The team relied heavily on Addison Welch, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aubree Eichenlaub, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fairfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Biglerville had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Nighthawks as they made off with a 21-4 win.
Jocelyn Miller was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Ava Peterson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Biglerville's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Fairfield, their record now sits at 8-9.
Fairfield's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's match. The Knights have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Biglerville, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Fairfield continue to outrun the ball?
Fairfield might still be hurting after the 15-3 loss they got from Biglerville when the teams last played on Tuesday. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
