Iola is 8-2 against the Buffalos since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Iola Mustangs will look to defend their home court against the Prairie View Buffalos at 7:00 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Iola and four for the Buffalos.
While it was all tied up 25-25 at halftime, Iola was not quite the Blue Comets' equal in the second half on Friday. Iola took a 64-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Comets. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Iola in their matchups with the Blue Comets: they've now lost four in a row.
The losing side was boosted by Cortland Carson, who scored 21 points along with four steals. That was a full 36.2% of Iola's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Landon Weide was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Meanwhile, Prairie View was the victim of a tough 58-32 loss at the hands of the Chargers on Friday.
Iola's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Prairie View, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-11-1.
Everything came up roses for Iola against the Buffalos in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 56-27 win. Does Iola have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Buffalos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
