The Elkmont Red Devils lost against the Lauderdale County Tigers back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Elkmont took a serious blow against Lauderdale County, falling 74-26. Elkmont was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-10.
Elkmont's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ester Marcial, who scored four points. Marcial is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Darby Davis, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Elkmont and nudges their season record down to 8-11. As for Lauderdale County, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.
Elkmont is on the road again on Saturday and play against Ardmore at 3:15 p.m. on January 6th. Lauderdale County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lexington at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Lexington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Lauderdale County is ranked fifth).
