Basketball Recap: Streator Snaps 16-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Streator had lost ten straight headed into Saturday's matchup, but Ava Gwaltney didn't let it get to 11. The Streator Bulldogs walked away with a 45-35 victory over the Somonauk/Leland Bobcats on Saturday thanks in part to Gwaltney, who posted 27 points and seven rebounds. Those 27 points gave her a new career-high.

Another player making a difference was Leah Krohe, who earned five points and ten boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played.

Streator's win ended a 16-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-24. As for Somonauk/Leland, their loss dropped their record down to 11-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Streator will venture away from home to face off against Manteno at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Manteno will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Streator surely won't give up without a fight. As for Somonauk/Leland, they will square off against Illinois Math & Science Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Somonauk/Leland is facing Illinois Math & Science Academy at the right time seeing as Illinois Math & Science Academy is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
