Virginia City and Pyramid Lake are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Muckers will be playing at home against the Lakers at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Pyramid Lake will be up against a hot Virginia City team: the squad just extended their winning streak to six. Everything went the Muckers' way against Smith Valley two weeks ago as they made off with a 23-15 win.

Nanna Lopez was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in triples (three). Tesla Turley was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI.
Virginia City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .537. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .412 or higher in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Pyramid Lake hadn't done well against Coleville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Lakers never let the Wolves get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Lakers, who have now won four matchups in a row.
Pyramid Lake's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Katie Mandell, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Pyramid Lake's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Virginia City, their win bumped their record up to 9-4-1.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Virginia City has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .643. However, it's not like Pyramid Lake struggles in that department as they've averaged .509. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Virginia City's way against Pyramid Lake when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Virginia City made off with a 26-11 victory. Will the Muckers repeat their success, or do the Lakers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
