The Redmond Mustangs will challenge the Eastlake Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Redmond's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when Lake Washington hitters got past them. The Mustangs walked away with a 17-12 win over the Kangaroos on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Ainsley Barcalow made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Barcalow was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Livy Ruess was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Simone Loving-Williams, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Redmond hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Eastlake hadn't done well against Bothell recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Wolves skirted past the Cougars 12-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolves have posted since April 29, 2024.
Addi Baumgartner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and seven unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Heather Lloyd, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Mia Atkins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Redmond's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Eastlake, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Eastlake's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Redmond has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Eastlake, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Redmond's sizable advantage in that area, the Wolves will need to find a way to close that gap.
Redmond took their win against Eastlake when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 17-5 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
