Fairview is 0-3 against Tonkawa since April of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Yellowjackets will look to defend their home field against the Buccaneers at 2:00 p.m. Fairview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Fairview's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Watonga. The win continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.
Bret Pembrook looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Haddon Miller was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Fairview: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Trace Bonham, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Tonkawa waltzed into their contest last Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Tigers.
Cason Johnson made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Tonkawa got a big performance out of Brett Shepherd, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was Shepherd's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Westyn Freeman, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Tonkawa pushed their record up to 20-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Fairview, the victory got them back to even at 14-14.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fairview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Tonkawa struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
