The Pineville Rebels will challenge the Jena Giants at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Pineville 2.7, Jena 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Pineville barely beat Florien the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rebels' pitcher stepped up to hand the Blackcats a 15-0 shutout on Friday. The Rebels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 23 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Addalyn Burch made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jadin Basco, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (four). Briley Byrnes was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Jena faced North DeSoto in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Giants fell just short of the Griffins by a score of 4-3. The Giants' defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Kiette Cooper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Sydney Williams was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Haylee Dangerfield, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Pineville pushed their record up to 28-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Jena, their loss dropped their record down to 23-5.
Pineville's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Rebels have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Jena, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Pineville continue to outrun the ball?
Pineville beat Jena 5-1 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Giants turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
