The Kimball Longhorns scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. Everything went their way against South Platte as Kimball made off with a 84-63 win. Kimball might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won three matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Kimball got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brandon Paxton out in front who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 19 rebounds. The contest was Paxton's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Lusche, who scored 32 points along with five steals.
South Platte's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Conner Evans, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Dashle Richards who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Richards scored a full 31.7% of South Platte's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Quinten Koenen, who scored 13 points.
Even though they lost, South Platte were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Kimball's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for South Platte, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kimball will take on Banner County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Banner County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Kimball is ranked 90th). As for South Platte, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Potter-Dix at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
