The Rio Linda Knights had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mira Loma on Wednesday and snuck past 49-47. That's another feather in the cap for Rio Linda, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Rio Linda was led to victory by Noah Wolford and Darius Williams . Wolford scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Williams scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Rhamad Williams was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
Rio Linda's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-14. As for Mira Loma, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rio Linda will take on Woodland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodland is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Mira Loma, they will be playing at home against Casa Roble at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Casa Roble knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 matchups -- so hopefully Mira Loma likes a good challenge.
