The Hughes Lions lost against the Mt. Pleasant Tigers back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Hughes fell 54-44 to Mt. Pleasant.
It was another big night for Hayden Holt, who scored 26 points along with three steals for Mt. Pleasant. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Holt has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Benderman, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Hughes' loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for Mt. Pleasant, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hughes will challenge Perry County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Perry County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests. As for Mt. Pleasant, they will head out on the road to square off against Cornersville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cornersville is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
