After a string of three wins, the Kingwood Mustangs's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 56-41 bruising from Silsbee. While losing is never fun, Kingwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 459th, while Silsbee is ranked 225th).
Jared Harris continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Silsbee, scoring 24 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The matchup was Harris' 13th in a row with at least ten points. Payton Jones was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Kingwood's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6. As for Silsbee, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with that victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Kingwood's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Strake Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th.
