Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Panguitch's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Panguitch's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They never let the Monticello Buckaroo get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. Considering the Bobcats have won seven matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Brooklyn Harland made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Harland was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Samantha Larsen and Kadee Harland did most of the damage at the plate: Larsen went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs, while Kadee scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Hailee Yadley was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Panguitch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .643. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in 11 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Panguitch has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Monticello, their loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Looking ahead, Panguitch will head out to take on Wayne at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats are facing the Badgers at the right time seeing as the Badgers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Monticello, they will welcome Piute at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.85 runs per game on average), something the Buckaroo will no doubt try to take advantage of.
