The Rabun County Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 68-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rabun Gap-Nacoochee. Rabun County has not had much luck with Rabun Gap-Nacoochee recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Rabun County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Huey Blalock, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and 7 assists. Blalock scored a full 36.5% of Rabun County's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Welch, who scored 18 points along with 5 rebounds.
Rabun County has yet to win a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 1-7 record. As for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rabun County will face off against Lakeview Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lakeview Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 317 points over their last four contests. Rabun Gap-Nacoochee is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Buford at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. Buford presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rabun Gap-Nacoochee in Georgia (Buford is ranked 17th, while Rabun Gap-Nacoochee is ranked 224th).
