The Covenant Christian Cougars lost against the Trinity Christian Lions back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Covenant Christian was outmatched by Trinity Christian on the road and fell 79-44. While losing is never fun, Covenant Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 178th, while Trinity Christian is ranked 48th).
Despite the loss, Covenant Christian still got an impressive performance from Matthew Boughton, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Weston Cox, who scored nine points.
Covenant Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 21-7. As for Trinity Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 20 of their last 21 games, which provided a nice bump to their 31-5 record this season.
Covenant Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-45 win vs. Midland Classical Academy on the 10th. Trinity Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
