The Jenks Trojans won the last time they faced the Ponca City Wildcats, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Jenks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-48 victory over Ponca City. Given Jenks' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Ponca City is ranked 251st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tay Moore, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. Jacon Dugosh was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Jenks and bumps their season record up to 14-7. As for Ponca City, they dropped their record down to 4-17 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home.
Jenks will take on Broken Arrow at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ponca City, they will head out on the road to square off against Choctaw at 8:00 a.m. on Friday. Hopefully Ponca City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
