The Waverly Wolverines had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 62-12 victory over Oneonta. Considering Waverly has won six matchups by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Waverly had a senior duo take command as Joey Tomasso threw for 308 yards and five touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes and Jay Pipher picked up 131 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Xavier Watson was another key contributor, picking up 105 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Waverly's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 45.67 points. As for Oneonta, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Waverly will be playing in front of their home fans against Susquehanna Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Susquehanna Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 285th, while Waverly is ranked 40th). Oneonta does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
