The Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs will face off against the South Dade Buccaneers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Archbishop Carroll will be strutting in after a win while South Dade will be coming in after a defeat.
Archbishop Carroll lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Coral Reef, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of 4's matchup. Archbishop Carroll blew past Coral Reef 10-3 on Thursday.
SEBASTIAN ARANA was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. ARANA was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Archbishop Carroll got a great performance from ADRIAN GARCIA as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits.
Back at the plate, DYLAN CASAL was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. ADEN ARGOTE was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Archbishop Carroll always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coral Reef only posted an OBP of .321.
Meanwhile, South Dade lost 13-6 to Southwest on Thursday.
Like Archbishop Carroll, South Dade also got a great game from a two-way player: Jonel Lluveras. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lluveras was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Giovanni Vera made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
South Dade's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Archbishop Carroll, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
