The Williams Yellowjackets entered their tilt with the CORE Butte Lynx with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Williams came out on top against CORE Butte by a score of 65-54 on Friday. With that victory, Williams brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.
Leading Williams to victory were Diego Ambriz and Kyden Bowen. Ambriz scored 25 points along with six rebounds and two blocks, while Bowen scored 30 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ambriz has scored at least a third of Williams' points. Luis Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring three points along with two steals.
Williams has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season. As for CORE Butte, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Williams will head out on the road to square off against Biggs at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Biggs knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Williams likes a good challenge. As for CORE Butte, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Hamilton at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Hamilton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
