The Washington County Panthers put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 75-29 victory over Perquimans. Washington County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 37 points or more this season.
Ke'Vontae Lucas was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Amari Chesson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Perquimans saw an underclassman step up: Nyquan Riddick scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Riddick has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jalyn Nelson, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.
Perquimans struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Washington County racked up 21 assists.
Washington County pushed their record up to 14-0 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points per game. As for Perquimans, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington County will take on the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Martin County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. As for Perquimans, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. North East Carolina Prep has now lost 13 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 17.
