The Wheat Ridge Farmers will head out on the road to challenge the Bear Creek Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wheat Ridge is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Wednesday, Wheat Ridge had to suffer through a rough 63-22 loss at the hands of Green Mountain. While losing is never fun, Wheat Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Green Mountain is ranked 48th).
Meanwhile, Bear Creek put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 61-7 victory over Alameda. The win was familiar territory for Bear Creek who now have three in a row.
Bear Creek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Olivia Kan out in front who scored ten points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Rachel Vasey, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Wheat Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Bear Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Wheat Ridge was dealt a bruising 61-19 loss at the hands of Bear Creek in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Wheat Ridge, Tania Hodge (who scored 20 points along with six steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
