South Central Border (8 Man) recap Sept. 26, 2012
Caldwell was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 10th to sixth in South Central Border (8 Man). Earlier in the week, the Bluejays defeated Attica 54-20.
Udall extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Oxford, 47-21. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Eagles.
Austin Filtingberger and Nick Kimple gave Sedan a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Filtingberger threw for 111 yards and five touchdowns, while Kimple ran for 112 yards. Teammate Filtingberger added to the ground attack by rushing for 38 yards.
Gage Burkes provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Wildcats fell to Udall. He completed seven passes for 104 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 48 yards. Burkes' favorite target this week was Daelyn Haskins, who caught four passes for 61 yards.
Kristopher Smilko made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Devils beat Cedar Vale/Dexter. The 6-foot-1 senior grabbed two interceptions.
Deshon Stiner was the best wideout in the league this week as Wyatt Williams's team defeated Oxford. Stiner tallied five receptions for 70 yards. Michael Propst helped Udall's passing attack out by catching two balls for 31 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Colton Massey of the Spartans is the league leader in passing yards this season with 465. He has also thrown seven touchdowns. On the ground, Shawn Burkes's team's Haskins has rushed for 389 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Stiner. The Udall star has nine catches for 231 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Wildcats take on South Haven. Oxford is in fourth place, while the Cardinals are in second place.
Central took down Yates Center 60-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kasey Biddle threw for 26 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 75 yards in the win.
