Baseball Recap: ROWVA/Williamsfield Has No Trouble Against Princeville

ROWVA/Williamsfield won the last time they faced Princeville and things went their way on Saturday too. The Cougars blew past the Princes 9-2. Considering the Cougars have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Drake DeJaynes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. DeJaynes was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Brody Lytle was excellent, going 3-for-4 with four RBI. Keagan Gerlach was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.

ROWVA/Williamsfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

ROWVA/Williamsfield pushed their record up to 12-12 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Princeville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-13-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. ROWVA/Williamsfield will challenge Henry-Senachwine at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Princeville, they will square off against Farmington at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
