Lorain hasn't had much luck against Midview recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Titans will be playing at home against the Middies at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
Lorain had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Warrensville Heights on Tuesday. The Titans blew past the Tigers 16-5. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
15 must be Midview's lucky number: they beat Firelands with that score not once but twice on Wednesday. The Middies beat the Falcons by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 15-5.
Benjamin Szczepanski looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Midview is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-12 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Zachary Sprague was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaiden Vogelpohl, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Midview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.4.
Lorain's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-10. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Midview, their victory bumped their record up to 8-13.
Lorain couldn't quite finish off Midview in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Will the Titans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
