It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Havelock Rams had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 20-6 victory over J.H. Rose. Havelock's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Havelock to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jonathan Williams, who rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 125 yards and a touchdown on only ten passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaheim Waller, who picked up 91 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding J.H. Rose to a paltry 201 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Havelock's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out seven times before it was all said and done. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Havelock pushed their record up to 13-0 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. As for J.H. Rose, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Havelock will play host again and welcome Northern Nash, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on November 24th. Northern Nash knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Havelock likes a good challenge. J.H. Rose does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
