Bradshaw Mountain and Flagstaff are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2020, but likely not for long. The Bears are taking a road trip to face off against the Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Bradshaw Mountain's victory against Poston Butte wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bears won by a run and slipped past the Broncos 7-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Kodee Statler made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
In other batting news, Jaslene Valentine was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Skye Oberan was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Flagstaff came tearing into Saturday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Volunteers. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by ten runs or more this season.
Like Bradshaw Mountain, Flagstaff also got a great game from a two-way player: Mia Garcia. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, Garcia posted three strikeouts, the most she's had over her last five contests. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI.
In other batting news, Hallie Watkins and Ryleigh Alex did most of the damage at the plate: Watkins scored four runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Alex scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs Watkins has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lucy Lansens, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Flagstaff hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 6-2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Bradshaw Mountain's record now sits at 6-3. As for Flagstaff, their record is now 8-6-1.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bradshaw Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Flagstaff struggles in that department as they've averaged .361. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bradshaw Mountain couldn't quite finish off Flagstaff when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
