If the Decatur Seahawks were feeling good off their 53-9 takedown of the Arcadia Firebirds last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Decatur had to suffer through a rough 70-38 loss at the hands of Wicomico. While losing is never fun, Decatur can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Wicomico is ranked 45th).
Several Seahawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Allison Swift, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Jozlyn Tyre was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Se'Lah Foreman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wicomico, almost dropping a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds. Foreman has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gabrielle Corbin, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Decatur's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6. As for Wicomico, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-1.
Decatur will be playing at home against Wicomico at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Wicomico is coming into the matchup with 12 straight victories on the road, so Decatur is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Wicomico, they will face off against Decatur at 6:00 p.m. Wicomico knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 contests -- so hopefully Decatur likes a good challenge.
