The Monroe Central Golden Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell 65-55 to Blackford. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Blackford got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Morris out in front who scored 19 points along with six assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Baker, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Monroe Central's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-9. As for Blackford, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Monroe Central will head out on the road to challenge Blue River Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Blackford, they will be playing at home against Eastbrook at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastbrook is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
