The Woodcreek Timberwolves won the last time they faced the Bella Vista Broncos, and things went their way on Thursday too. Woodcreek enjoyed a cozy 60-42 win over Bella Vista. Given Woodcreek's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Bella Vista is ranked 508th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Woodcreek got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyler Hennessey out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Hennessey has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Max VanLaningham, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks.
When it comes to explaining why Bella Vista lost, one person who can't be blamed is Damian Rickett. Despite the final result, he scored 28 points along with six rebounds. Mark Otrotsyuk was another key contributor, scoring two points along with two blocks.
Woodcreek pushed their record up to 20-6 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Bella Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodcreek will face off against River Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully River Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Monday. As for Bella Vista, they will head out on the road to take on Inderkum at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Inderkum has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 953 points over their last 11 matchups.
