Sierra and East Union are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Sierra Timberwolves will be playing in front of their home fans against the East Union Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Sierra, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-38 loss to Central Catholic. While losing is never fun, Sierra can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 488th, while Central Catholic is ranked 238th).
Meanwhile, East Union's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 41-40 to Oakdale.
This is the second loss in a row for Sierra and nudges their season record down to 11-8. As for East Union, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Sierra didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against East Union in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 58-53 victory. Will Sierra repeat their success, or does East Union have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
