The McLeod Longhorns will be playing at home against the Big Sandy Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
In what's become a running theme this season, McLeod gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 68-35 victory over Ore City. Given McLeod's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 524th, while the Rebels are ranked 1545th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Big Sandy entered their tilt with the Lions with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Big Sandy claimed a resounding 74-30 victory over the Lions at home.
Big Sandy's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Malijah Francis, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Francis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Trey Coleman, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
McLeod's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 30-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Big Sandy, their win bumped their record up to 11-13.
McLeod beat the Wildcats 68-60 when the teams last played back in January. Does McLeod have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
